Cesil House Co-op Ltd

CESIL House Co-operative Limited is a charity established in February 2018 by three families to set up an individualised, family-run home for their three daughters, all of whom have autism. Part of their mission was to build a purpose-built Special Disability Accommodation house funded by the NDIA, with completely separate robust accommodation for one of the ladies who had been assessed to live by herself, and a shared robust accommodation with plenty of individualised space for the other two ladies.

CESIL achieved their objective in July 2023 when the three ladies moved into their own SDA home in North Ryde, built by BlueCHP and designed with the input of the families from start to finish.  The two sides of the dwelling are connected by an office so CESIL has the benefit of sharing financial and support resources, making it sustainable for the long term, and the ladies can live as independently as possible in a beautiful home close to their families, day program and familiar community environment.

The ladies love swimming so CESIL installed a heated mineral swimming pool and spa so they can enjoy the therapeutic, social and health benefits of swimming.  The back yard also has an undercover BBQ area which the ladies can enjoy individually, together and with family and friends who visit.  BlueCHP has provided a 20 year lease with 2 options (total 60 years), so the ladies have a home for as long as it meets their needs.

CESIL’s continuing mission is that the ladies are supported by committed carers to facilitate lives that are active, healthy, happy and as independent as possible. This mission is underpinned by values of family, person-centred support, capacity building and quality care.
